Ode to My Closet

Oh, my dear closet
you are so deep
You hold many treasures
which I cannot keep

Today I went through you
And saw many things
Will I ever wear
that dress with the bling?

And then there’s that skirt
I see now and then
I’ve had it for years
Has it been ten?

Some clothes don’t fit
They must have shrunk
It couldn’t possibly be
The extra junk in my trunk

I hemmed and I hawed
But came to realize
That never again
Would I be that size

That sparkly gold top
What did I expect?
I tried it on
and looked like an 80’s reject

I have never worn
The clothes with the tags
Now I will put them
Into large bags

Out of my house!
Out and away!
May my clothes find new homes
to live another day.

  1. That is too funny! I just cleaned out my closet this past weekend. They say if you haven't worn it in a year, toss it. That was fine until I realized that my closet is empty now!

  2. I have so much crap in my closet, yet when I open it up, I think, "God, I have nothing to wear." I'd buy more stuff but recently the styles have sucked so bad that I have a hard time finding things that fit right, or more importantly, are in colors that don't make want to vomit.
