Greyish

This week's Thematic Photography over at Written, Inc. is "Greyish". I chose this photo not just because it's grey, but because it shows movement (the current lapping on one side of the cone), weather (the raindrops hitting the water), and proof that indeed it does rain in southern California!

Oh yeah, and I didn't take this picture - DH did. He said I could use it, though. :-)

  1. Lively, yet peaceful little ripples, yet why does the movie Jaws come to mind?

  2. I had to look several times and re-read before I realized that's a traffic cone. Wow, you must have had an awful lot of rain to cover the road like that.

  3. I thought of sharks at first. Somehow our red and white cones would not have been as effective as your orange one - it really sets of the grey.

  4. But the song says? The song didn't lie, did it? Great grey picture though.

  5. What part of Cali are u in? I'm near Magic Mtn....and yes, it does rain, also it hails and we do get some snow or fluff as the experienced snow folk say...

  6. Great shot - when you enlarge it, the feeling of cold wet misery really comes through...

  7. I love this shot. The contrast in color is superb, and I like the defiance of the cone against the strength of the current. There's so much going on here, and you see more and more of it the more time you spend drinking in the scene. Lovely shot and a great interpretation of the theme!

  8. I have to admit that my first thought was which Smurf like character with an orange hat is being drowned in this photo. It's pretty cool though, atmospheric :)

  9. Great example of 'Greyish'. Even paradise needs a little rain.
